Mid-Year Passenger totals at Chippewa County International (CIU) Airport 6% greater than in 2017

Over 20,000 passengers flew to and from Chippewa County International Airport (CIU) through June 2018. This represents an increase of over 6% from 2017 totals to date. Passengers from both the US and Canada continue to utilize CIU for their travel needs. In November 2017, CIU added a flight to Minneapolis St. Paul which has provided passengers with many additional flight options, while continuing daily service to Detroit Metro. Chippewa County EDC Completes Construction of New 8,000 Square Foot Facility

The Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation recently completed construction of a new 8,000 square foot facility at its Industrial park in Kincheloe, MI. The structure will provide an additional modernized facility for its automotive test customer. “The new facility will allow our test client additional capacity and confidentiality for advance vehicle development and testing”, stated EDC President Chris Olson. “The new facility provides updated infrastructure to our park and adds another key asset for our industrial expansion”, stated Olson. Delta Global Services at CIU Receives 2017 “Station of the Year”

“Delta Global Services” (DAL Global Services-DAL) a Delta Airline aviation services company at Chippewa County International Airport (CIU) was recently awarded 2017 “Station of the Year”. Over seventy (70) North Central Region DAL teams were vying for this honor. The criteria for this award is based on a daily score card of goals, which are expected to be accomplished for each flight. Over 44,000 passengers flew to and from Chippewa County International Airport in 2017, which is 3,242 more than 2016.  Passengers from both the US and Canada continue to utilize CIU for their travel needs. Kincheloe Celebrates 40 Years of Progress

Saturday 40 September 30th will be a celebration of 40 years of successful conversion from military to civilian use of the former Kincheloe Air Force Base.  The area has been transformed into a dynamic community that is the home of three Department of Corrections facilities, Chippewa County International Airport, and manufacturers and businesses that employ hundreds.
