Kincheloe Celebrates 40 Years of Progress

Saturday 40 September 30th will be a celebration of 40 years of successful conversion from military to civilian use of the former Kincheloe Air Force Base.  The area has been transformed into a dynamic community that is the home of three Department of Corrections facilities, Chippewa County International Airport, and manufacturers and businesses that employ hundreds.

Celebrate the progress with us Saturday, September 30th. The Open House from 9:00AM to 4:30pm will feature displays of military memorabilia, airplanes, equipment, and manufacturers products .
At 9:00AM The public is invited to participate in a 5k torch run on the runway and taxiway, put on by the Department of Corrections & Kinross Lions Club to benefit Special Olympics of Michigan and the Kinross Lions. At 10:15 a.m. the public is invited to walk the 7,200 foot main runway and starting at 11:30 a.m. kids and adults are invited to bike the runway. Food will be available from the Kinross Lions Club.
