The Chippewa County Board of Commissioners during the Regular Session meeting on Thursday, September 12, 2024, appointed Mr. Don McLean and Mr. James Parker to fill vacancies on the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.  Mr. McLean and Mr. Parker will replace both Jim Moore and Jim Quinnell who both resigned in August.

Quinnell, a long standing EDC Board member, served for over 30 years. Moore began his board appointment in 2013. During the August 15 Regular Chippewa County Board of Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Traynor stated that Jim Moore “worked hard on all the boards he had, and he would still be serving if he could.” We are grateful for their dedicated service and wish them both good health and much happiness.

Mr. Don McLean reappointment comes after his decision to not seek reelection in March. McLean previously served as the Board Chairman from 2014 – 2024. McLean is a retired teacher that brings extensive knowledge and experience from his many years of community service.

Mr. James Parker is a Sault Ste. Marie resident that is the Vice President at Central Savings Bank. In addition to his new appointment, he is also the President Elect at the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce Board.

The Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation’s mission is to encourage economic growth through strengthening the county’s competitive position and facilitating investments that build capacity, create jobs, generate economic opportunity, and improve quality of life.  The Chippewa County EDC also manages the Chippewa County International Airport and the Kincheloe Industrial Park.
