Michigan Economic Development Corporation:  Small Business Relief Program Grants​ ​The State of Michigan has announced a grant program totaling $10 million statewide. The Upper Peninsula applied for $1 million and received $500,000 total to available businesses across the U.P.   To qualify for this, program your business must meet these fundamental criteria: Does your company have 50 or fewer employees? Does your company need working capital to support payroll, rent, mortgage payments, utility expenses, or other similar expenses that occur in the ordinary course of business? Chippewa County EDC Receives Economic Development Administration Technical Assistance and Planning Grant

The Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation applied for and received an Economic Development Administration Technical Assistance and Planning grant. State Grant to Help Chippewa County Reuse Airport Buildings

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A state grant will help Chippewa County find new uses for vacant buildings at a former Air Force base in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The Department of Environmental Quality has awarded $45,000 in brownfield funding to the Chippewa County International Airport. It will help the county’s Economic Development Corporation evaluate under-used buildings on the airport grounds and determine what types of cleanups and asbestos treatments are needed. Sault Tribe receives $300,000 transit grant

SAULT STE. MARIE — The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Tribal Transportation Program has been awarded a $300,000 competitive Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Tribal Transit Grant. The funding is aimed at building and strengthening partnerships throughout the tribe’s service area to meet the transportation needs of its most vulnerable members. The U.S. Small Business Administration announced today that federal economic injury disaster loans are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations of all sizes located in Michigan as a result of excessive snow, freeze and extremely cold temperatures from Jan. 1 through June 3, 2015. NOAA $2 Million Grant to Cleanup Manistique River

WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters today announced that the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will receive $2,124,028 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to help continue the cleanup of contaminated sediment from industrial waste in the Manistique River. USDA Announces Regional Development Assistance in Central Upper Peninsula

  EAST LANSING, Aug. 12, 2015 – U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan James J. Turner today announced that two regions in northern Michigan have been selected to participate in the Stronger Economies Together program.
